The Dom Tower has regained its former brilliance following its renovation, completed in November 2024. It may even appear more stunning than before, especially in the evening when it is beautifully illuminated. The lighting design by the British firm Speirs Major Light Architecture is based on two principles: creating light ‘from within' and allowing the Dom Tower to narrate its own story as the beacon of Utrecht. The design enhances the sense of depth and highlights details, accentuating the Gothic architecture. This is delightfully reflected in the openwork lantern (the tower's upper section). Just as captivating from the outside, the stained glass is a vibrant colour spectacle, even in the dark.
