Fabric Market
Even if you aren’t in the market for fabrics, buttons or zips, the fabric market in the Breedstraat is still a great place for a Saturday morning stroll. It’s not only the biggest fabric and textile market in the Netherlands, it’s also the oldest: the first linen market was organised there in 1597. Now, some 400 years later, the Lapjesmarkt has grown to a weekly market with dozens of stalls showcasing countless fabrics, ribbons, zippers, buttons and anything else you can think of. Don’t forget to stop for coffee on the terrace of Café Marktzicht, for a bit of ‘people watching’!
The Lapjesmarkt takes place all year round on Saturday mornings from 08.00 until 13.00 at the Breedstraat and the Begijnhof.
