Rotsoord
On the banks of the river Vaartsche Rijn, a five-minute walk from the well-known Ledig Erf square in the south of Utrecht, you’ll find Rotsoord, a former industrial estate. In recent years, this former industrial area has been converted into a hotspot that is very popular with locals.
Enjoying a drink on the waterfront
Visit lively outdoor seating terraces on the waterfront where you can soak up the sun, have dinner at a former sawmill and enjoy cocktails in a warehouse -- you can all do all this and more in Rotsoord. A former warehouse has been converted into a restaurant called Le:en, where you can have tapas-style Asian meals, while they also serve a wide variety of cocktails. Or you could enjoy a few drinks at Klein Berlijn, a café and bistro with a creative and cultural theme, with its delightful waterfront outdoor terrace. This neighbourhood has a special landmark: a water tower, which is now home to WT Urban Café & Kitchen. Be sure to have lunch or dinner at this restaurant to enjoy some spectacular views of the city.
Apartments and hotels
Rotsoord is developing in many different ways. In addition to the wide variety of restaurants and cafés, more and more residential buildings are being constructed in this part of town, ranging from industrial-feel new apartments to homes realised in former factories. Furthermore, a former Citroën garage is currently being converted in a 172-room hotel. Are you looking for a proper flexible workspace while staying in Utrecht? DAAR offers plenty of workspaces and meeting rooms.
