A tunnel on the cycle route between Leidsche Rijn and Utrecht city centre merits a break from cycling, especially at night. In the tunnel, under the A2 motorway, Herman Kuijer's light artwork plays with colours, absorption and reflection. Lamps project different moving patterns from the ceiling onto the water below. In his work, Kuijer always seeks out the tension between order and chance, between uniformity and chaos. At times, the patterns and movements are regular and even, only to surprise again. Although the lights are always on, the most intense spectacle can be experienced after sunset.
